Meet the Zelensky Truck, a humble Chevrolet that’s lived many lives: from a television star to a war veteran, and now, a symbol of resilience and hope.

A Star Is Born

In 2014–2015, this unassuming truck appeared on screens across Ukraine in the hit TV series Servant of the People. The show told the satirical story of a high school history teacher who unexpectedly becomes the President of Ukraine. It resonated deeply with viewers — not only for its humor but also for its striking message about change.

The lead actor? Volodymyr Zelensky, who would go on to become the real-life President of Ukraine. Thanks to its role in the series, the truck became one of the most recognizable vehicles in the country.

After filming, the Chevy was returned to a studio warehouse near Lviv. For years, it sat quietly in storage, its moment in the spotlight seemingly behind it.

A Nation at War

Everything changed in February 2022.

When Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, territorial defense units were formed overnight. One of the most urgent needs? Transport. There simply weren’t enough vehicles to support frontline efforts. Suddenly, every usable pickup mattered.

The once-famous TV truck was pulled from storage, repainted in camouflage, fitted with a machine gun mount, and sent into service.

And what a service it gave.

Time and again, the truck came under fire. It was damaged, repaired, and sent back to the front. A workhorse under pressure. A survivor.

A New Mission in the U.S.

After over a year on the battlefield, the time came for its “demobilization.” In late 2023, the truck was officially decommissioned and transferred to the nonprofit organization Ukraine Focus.

By spring 2025, it arrived in the United States — not to rest, but to serve once more.

Today, this legendary vehicle is being used by volunteers to raise funds for other life-saving transport: ambulances, evacuation trucks, and supply vehicles for Ukrainian forces still fighting on the frontlines.

From a movie prop to a battle-hardened machine, the Zelensky Truck is more than just a vehicle — it’s a symbol of Ukraine’s fight, its spirit, and its will to survive.
